Collaboration with the Edith Stein Archive
The Edith Stein Archive Cologne is a place of scholarly work, living remembrance, and international exchange. Research, archival work, and educational activities go hand in hand here. For this reason, we also understand the Archive as a space for learning and collaboration.

Internship at the Archive
Students of theology, philosophy, archival studies, history, as well as art and photography have the opportunity to complete an internship with us as part of their studies. The aim is to provide a realistic insight into the diverse work of a scholarly archive while allowing interns to contribute their own interests and skills.

The internship combines academic, organizational, and practical activities. These include gaining insight into library and archival work, as well as contributing to research and publication projects. Interns also take part in the preparation and organization of lectures, seminars, and other academic events.

Depending on the field of study, individual emphases can be set. Students of archival studies and photography gain more in-depth experience in working with archival collections, documentation, digitization, and visual materials. Students of philosophy and theology are particularly involved in content-related work on the thought and writings of Edith Stein.
Internships are professionally supervised and individually tailored to the requirements of the respective university. A certificate confirming the internship can be issued.

Voluntary Engagement
Voluntary engagement is a central and indispensable part of the work of the Edith Stein Archive. It is sustained by personal interest, shared reflection, and the joint commitment that makes this place a living archive.

The opportunity for voluntary engagement is open to people of different ages and with diverse professional or personal backgrounds who are interested in Edith Stein and the work of the Archive and wish to become involved independently of any academic program.

For us, voluntary engagement means not merely providing support in everyday tasks, but participating in a shared mission: the preservation, exploration, and communication of Edith Stein’s intellectual and spiritual legacy. The scope and duration of the engagement are arranged flexibly and by mutual agreement. Ongoing guidance and support are, of course, provided.

Contact
Internships and voluntary engagement differ in their formal framework, but not in the appreciation of the work contributed. All interested persons are invited to contact us via our contact form in order to discuss the available opportunities together.
